Phase 01
Discovery
Understanding the people, the market and the mess we were walking into.
Problem
The club had grown into one of the biggest per-capita curling clubs in Sweden but its digital presence was scattered across old pages, PDFs and Facebook posts.
Research
Interviewed board members, players, café volunteers and event organisers. Audited what people actually opened the site to do.
Business Goal
Support the new hall launch, make event bookings and results easy to find, and give sponsors a proud shopfront.
Target Users
Members checking results and schedules, curious newcomers wanting to try curling, and companies booking corporate events.
User Journey
Two main tasks: 'find me my next game / result' and 'book an event'. Everything else supports these two.
Pain Points
Old site buried the new hall, hid results and had no booking path for corporate events.
Personas
A veteran player, a first-time visitor, an HR manager planning a team activity.
Competitive Analysis
Most club sites are volunteer-built and read like intranets. We designed a public product with an internal calmness.
Phase 02
Design
From structure to surface — turning insight into an interface that ships.
Information Architecture
Home, New Hall, Competitions, Committee, Results, Café, Events, Try Curling, Booking.
Wireframes
Hero foregrounds the hall, results one click away, event booking always visible in the top-right.
UI Design
Club blue on ice-white, generous type, action-red CTAs. Photos of the hall carry the emotional weight.
Prototype
Prototype tested with three volunteers and one prospective corporate customer.
Challenges
Keeping the site editable by non-designers on the board — every section had to be simple to update.
Iterations
Consolidated three legacy sections into one 'Committee' page. Moved results above competitions after week-one feedback.
Phase 03
Delivery
What we shipped, what it moved, and what I'd do next.
Final Solution
A single, welcoming digital home that supports the club's ambitions and makes it easy to bring in the next 100 members.
Impact
Event bookings are now inbound; the board reports the site 'finally reflects who we are'.
Lessons Learned
For community platforms, calm hierarchy beats visual noise every time.
Future Opportunities
Live results feed, member portal, sponsor storefront and a small e-shop for club merch.
